Volkswagen is helping the Sydney Swans take meaningful action to fight climate change through a partnership with Go Neutral.

Go Neutral’s goal is to make one million vehicles carbon neutral.

The organisation helps offset carbon emissions created through the exhaust of vehicles by paying to capture the same amount of emissions through growing trees and restoring native bushland. By balancing the emissions with offsets, the car becomes carbon neutral.

Getting involved is easy and accessible. For the cost of a cup of coffee, Australians can purchase a Go Neutral sticker which funds the carbon offsets.

Sydney Swans Volkswagen ambassadors including Isaac Heeney, co-captains Luke Parker, Callum Mills and Brooke Lochland, coach John Longmire, and CEO Tom Harley, have all taken the opportunity to make their cars carbon neutral.

Sydney Swans CEO Tom Harley said the club is actively seeking ways to reduce its impact on the climate.

“The climate is a big issue, and we have players and staff who are passionate about that,” Harley said.

“We can play a role in reducing our impact on the climate by taking this small but important step forward with Volkswagen and Go Neutral.”

Director of Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles Michal Szaniecki has encouraged all Australians to get involved.

“We make this announcement to raise awareness, to demonstrate that the carbon neutralisation of vehicles – including those deployed with our friends the Swans – is by no means cost prohibitive. Certainly, Volkswagen and Swans should do this; the point is that we all can.

“Measures such as this are a small but important step on the road to providing sustainable mobility for future generations.”
