Former Sydney Swans Chief Executive Officer Kelvin Templeton was last night inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame in Melbourne.

Templeton was one of six new members inducted into the Hall of Fame, with their careers spanning both the current national competition at AFL level and the histories of the state leagues.

Templeton, former Swans CEO, is one of only five players in League history to have topped the goalkicking table (since 1955 they have been awarded the Coleman Medal) and won a Brownlow Medal.

Templeton’s playing career was hampered with injury, playing just 34 games in three years before retiring at 27.

His learnings throughout his career and from his time with Footscray were foremost in his mind when post his playing career, he became chief executive of the Sydney Swans.

"The main thing I got out of those years at the Bulldogs was to do the opposite," he said.

"It was to really make sure that the Swans had a strong culture and that the players were looked after, which they were."
