The Sydney Swans have elevated rookie player Shane Biggs to the club’s senior list.

The athletic midfielder, who was recruited from the Bendigo Bombers at pick 13 in the 2012 AFL Rookie Draft, impressed enough last season to be retained on the rookie list in 2013 and has now taken another step forward with his recent senior elevation.

The 21-year-old is the fourth Swans rookie to be promoted to the senior list this season following Dane Rampe, Brandon Jack and Xavier Richards.

The Swans have made the most of their rookie elevations this season with Rampe playing 14 games since being elevated ahead of round one, Jack (five games) and Richards (one game) also making their AFL debuts this year.

Biggs’ elevation also follows a spate of injuries to Swans’ senior players, with six of the club’s Premiership players suffering mid to long term injuries this season including Adam Goodes, Lewis Jetta, Rhyce Shaw, Lewis Roberts-Thomson, Sam Reid and Alex Johnson.
