Jeremy Laidler will undergo a fitness test on Thursday to determine whether he’ll be fit to take to the field for this weekend’s clash with GWS.
Laidler was subbed out at half-time of Friday night’s win over Collingwood with hamstring tightness and replaced by Jake Lloyd at the beginning of the third term.
Scans over the weekend uncovered no tear or strain of the muscle which was positive news and bodes well for the 26-year-old ahead of Saturday’s derby against the Giants.
General Manager of Football Tom Harley said Laidler would give the hamstring a rigorous test during Thursday’s training session and, pending fitness, should retake his place in the side at Spotless Stadium.
“The scans were okay so we got some positive news there,” Harley confirmed for the HCF Injury Update.
“We need Laids to focus on recovery during this early part of the week in an effort to get through training on Thursday.
“He’s just one we’ll be assessing on Thursday.”
It will be a busy morning for the Club’s fitness staff with Lance Franklin, Ben McGlynn and Craig Bird also testing out respective injuries in a bid to be considered at the selection table.
Franklin has missed the past two weeks with a back complaint, McGlynn is battling hamstring tightness while Bird has been plagued by a sore calf.
“Both Lance and Ben will go through the required hoops to get themselves sup to play,” Harley added.
“But to be fair there’s a lot of water to go under the bridge before we can rule anyone in at this stage.
"Birdy is hopeful of getting through training and putting his hand up."
As reported earlier in the week, Luke Parker (ankle) and Dan Robinson (collarbone) are set for extended stints on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on the weekend to repair respective fractures.
Both players are expected to miss 4-5 weeks.
Luke Parker leaves the field on a stretcher after breaking his ankle against Collingwood last Friday night.
