The return of Sydney Swans co-captain Jarrad McVeigh is imminent – but it won’t be this week.
McVeigh has been ruled out of Sydney Derby IX against the Giants on Saturday.
But Swans General Manager of Football Tom Harley says McVeigh is almost ready for a recall.
“He’s (McVeigh’s) training for condition base now – and he doesn’t need a lot because he’s obviously such a hardened pro,” Harley told the HCF Injury Update.
“He’ll have a good week on the track and he trained really strongly this morning.
“He won’t play this week but certainly will have his hand up next week, which will be great for the club.”
Meanwhile Sam Reid is back running and building his fitness base after a pre-season setback with his hamstring injury. Reid is on track for a Round 5 return.
The Swans could regain Gary Rohan the following week. Rohan is on the long-term injury list until Round 6, but trained well with the team on Tuesday.
And Sam Naismith spent the morning running laps of the SCG as he continues to recover from a broken hand.
