Versatile Sydney Swans defenders Harry Marsh and Jordan Foote have both capped off memorable 2016 campaigns earning two-year contract extensions and a place on the Club’s primary list.
This time last year, Marsh was delisted after spending three seasons with the Swans after being recruited with pick 44 in the 2012 national draft.
The 22-year-old was thrown a lifeline via last year’s rookie draft, he put in a huge pre-season and was rewarded with a spot in the senior team for the Round 10 clash with North Melbourne.
He played a further six games for the year, including three finals, and has earned his place back on the primary list for the 2017 season.
Joining Marsh on the primary list next year will be Foote who also made his debut in 2016 when he got the call up for the Round 18 match against Carlton.
While it was the only senior appearance for the QBE Sydney Swans Academy product, the 21-year-old was one of the most consistent performers in the NEAFL, earning a place in the NEAFL Team of the Year.
Swans Head of Football Tom Harley says it’s great reward for the duo.
“Harry's return to the primary list is a great reminder to all young players of the value of resilience and hard work. It was great to see Harry debut this year and he provides us with a steady hand in defence," Harley said.
"Jordan's improvement in 2016 has been fantastic – he elevated his NEAFL game to a new level and proved that he is ready to tackle senior AFL football."
Marsh and Foote join Tom Papley and Nic Newman to be promoted from the rookie list for the 2017 season.
The duo are just a host of Swans to re-sign this season, joining Kieren Jack, Nick Smith, Luke Parker, Gary Rohan, Jeremy Laidler, Harry Cunningham, Dan Robinson, George Hewett, Aliir Aliir, Jake Lloyd, Tom Papley, Nic Newman, Alex Johnson and Dean Towers.
