Jordan Dawson will become the Sydney Swans' fifth debutant of 2017 when the South Australian import lines up against Collingwood on Friday night.
Dawson, a 183cm utility from SANFL club Sturt, is one of three changes for the blockbuster clash at the SCG with Callum Sinclair and Jordan Foote joining the first-gamer in replacing Kurt Tippett (ankle), Jeremy Laidler (omitted) and Harry Cunningham (omitted).
The 19-year-old, who celebrates his birthday on Sunday, had an interrupted pre-season but hasn't put a foot wrong for the NEAFL Swans in the last month.
Strong form, including 23 disposals, four marks and three goals in last week's season opener, forced coach John Longmire to take note.
"We're really looking forward to what Jordan's going to bring," Longmire said in this week's Centrum Team Selection.
"He's a big body, can take a strong mark and is a beautiful left-foot kick so it's great to get him into the side.
"He's been around for a little while now and he's starting to mature and he had a really good off-season."
Dawson follows in the footsteps of Oliver Florent, Will Hayward, Nic Newman and Robbie Fox to debut for the Sydney Swans this season, all of whom have made impressive starts to their AFL careers.
"(Their performance) gives you confidence that the kids can come in and really contribute, but you still have to go out and work (to) do the job against Collingwood, who we know won't be easy," Longmire added.
Both Sinclair and Darcy Cameron were in line to replace Tippett, with Sinclair's 47-game experience winning over the coaches during Thursday's Match Commitee.
Sinclair has yet to feature for the seniors this year, his last game for the Swans coming in Round 18 last season before he succumbed to a knee injury in the lead up to finals.
The 27-year-old played 16 games in his first season with the Swans, averaging 10 disposals and 14 hit outs a game.
"He's played a bit of footy and we do have a young team running out," Longmire added, noting Sinclair's 29 games for West Coast before his 2015 trade.
"He competes really hard, whether it's in the ruck or up forward, so we're looking forward to seeing what he can bring."
Sydney holds a strong record against Collingwood at the SCG, winning 13 of 19 matches, including seven of the last eight.
Collingwood hasn’t won at the SCG since Round 4, 2000.
The last encounter came in Round 1 last year with Sydney coming away with an 80-point win. Lance Franklin kicked four goals while Luke Parker collected three Brownlow votes for his 40 disposals.
