In 2024, our football club had a total of 183 staff working across our football programs, commercial operations and the QBE Sydney Swans Academy. This ranged from casual employees interacting daily with our valued members and fans, to our incredible AFL and AFLW athletes who we all admire for their commitment and determination on-field.

Together this spectrum of contributors makes our club what it is today, each person playing their own role in the club’s success. We are proud of the diverse make-up of that workforce too, including the significant impact our women are having across all aspects.

As explained by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA), the gender pay gap is the difference in average earnings between women and men in the workforce.

As can be seen in the data released by WGEA, the Sydney Swans gender pay gap is in alignment to the average across the professional sports industry.

This result is primarily driven by the collective bargaining agreement in place for AFL and AFLW players across the competition, including at the Sydney Swans.

We also acknowledge that there remains a significant amount of work to do in increasing the representation of women in senior positions across our Club, particularly in our AFL football program.

The delivery of our Diversity Action Plan (DAP), which includes the Advancement of Women pillar, is an important step in us making progress. This document can be viewed here.
