The Sydney Swans have made just one change ahead of Saturday's qualifying final, bringing in young gun Callum Mills for the blockbuster clash with GWS.

Mills, who was a notable absentee from the team's final game of the regular fixture due to calf soreness, returns for the 11th and biggest installment of the Sydney Derby.

The 19-year-old and 2016 AFL Rising Star been named on the half-back flank, a position he's taken to seamlessly since his first-round debut earlier this season.

Harry Cunningham has been omitted.

Speaking for Centrum Team Selection, coach John Longmire said Mills had recovered fully from his niggle and was primed ahead of his first final.

"It's great to have him back in the team," Longmire said.

"I'm sure he's really looking forward to it. It was obviously fantastic for him to win the Rising Star Award but he's focusing on the task at hand.

"He's got a really good mature head on him to be able to do that, and we're confident he can look at the strengths of the competition and really hone in on those."

Saturday's math-up will also notch a maiden final for seven of Mills' teammates, while only 12 players remain from last year's semi-final loss to North Melbourne at the same venue.

Overall, Sydney has lost only twice in 10 encounters against GWS, including the last back in Round 12 at Spotless Stadium.

The Swans have won all three at ANZ Stadium by an average of 62 points.
