The decision to move all Sydney Swans home games to the SCG from the start of 2016 has been welcomed by Swans greats.
We caught up with three of the biggest names to pull on the red and white jumper to find out what the SCG means to them.
Swans co-captain, Jarrad McVeigh:
"The SCG is a very special place to me – it’s where I first saw my first AFL game. To now be playing for the Sydney Swans and to run out here every week is a huge thing for me and a huge thing for all the players."
"Being in the grandstand as a young boy I’ve seen some fantastic moments; the Tony Lockett point to put the Swans in the grand final was a huge moment."
Former captain and veteran of 241 games, Brett Kirk:
"My most memorable moment would have to be the 2005 semi-final v Geelong. The remaining minutes were an incredible experience; the crowd was deafening. It’s something I will never forget."
Dual Brownlow medallist and dual premiership player, Adam Goodes:
"I’m just really proud that I was able to have such a fantastic career with this football club in an arena that’s iconic around the world. It still makes me feel pretty special when I walk in here – it’s a very special place for a lot of different reasons."
The Swans will kick off at the SCG in Round 1 for a Saturday night blockbuster against Collingwood. Tickets go on sale at 9am Friday.
