2005 Grand Final: Paul Roos iconic speech vs 2005 Grand Final: Leo Barry Mark

These two iconic moments from 2005 go head to head in this week’s vote.

The iconic words, For the people who’ve waited 72 years to see South Melbourne, slash Sydney Swans, win the premiership, HERE IT IS!’ by Paul Roos still brings back plenty of memories. It was narrowly voted by you in the opening week and faces up against the Leo Barry Mark which claimed 70% of the votes over Nick Davis’ four goal heroics in the 2005 Semi Final against Geelong.

Leo Barry, You Star. It was the mark that ended a 72-year premiership drought for Sydney – as well as West Coast Eagles’ 2005 AFL premiership hopes – as Swans defender Leo Barry leapt into a pack and emerged with the all-important Sherrin firmly in his grasp in the dying seconds of the game.

2005 Grand Final: Brett Kirk vs 2006 Qualifying Final: Michael O’Loughlin

Two Bloods legends go face to face, each with their own finals moment.

‘This is for the Bloods’ echoed around the MCG as Brett Kirk accepted his 2005 premiership medal. The moment so historic, pipping Tadgh Kennelly’s Irish Jig as he collected his 2005 premiership medal in true Irish fashion.

Kirk’s moment comes head to head with a moment that in itself, was it’s own face to face moment. A passionate Mickey O goes face-to-face with the West Coast cheer squad at Subiaco during the 2006 Qualifying Final against the West Coast Eagles.

1996 Preliminary Final: That Plugger Kick vs 2012 Grand Final: Adam Goodes

It’s what dreams are made of when you are growing up. Kicking your team to victory after the siren and Tony Lockett did just that in 1996. Legendary goalkicker Tony 'Plugger' Lockett takes a mark from 50m out with less than 15 seconds remaining, needing just a point to get the Swans into the Grand Final. It was his boot that had the final say in a grandstand conclusion to the preliminary final between Sydney and Essendon at the SCG.

After receiving 84% of the votes in the opening week, it faces up against Adam Goodes Grand Final effort that was also a popular selection in week one.

Up by one point, who would you trust with the ball? Adam Goodes kicks an unbelievable goal to extend the Swans lead in the 2012 Grand Final - you know the commentary, "Commeth the moment, Cometh the Champion"

2012 Grand Final: Premiers v 2012 Grand Final: Nick Malceski

The final head to head match up in this week’s finals showdown comes from 2012.

Winning the 2012 Premiership? Enough said.

It faces a moment from earlier in that clash. At the 7-minute mark of the first quarter, under considerable pressure, the most unlikely of goal kickers, Nick Malceski, kicked truly from deep in the left full forward pocket – the wrong side for a left footer. It was a miraculous – almost impossible – goal, and the only one we would score for the quarter. With 40 seconds to go, Nick Malceski again stamped himself on the game when he snapped beautifully from a pack about 20 metres from goal, and put the game beyond Hawthorn’s reach.
