The Sydney Swans have thrown their full weight of support behind people with physical and neurological disabilities, with players, staff, members and fans dusting off their joggers for a vital month-long campaign.
Steptember is an annual initiative run by the Cerebral Palsy Alliance that sees thousands of people around the world challenge themselves to take 10,000 steps a day or the equivalent in 28 days.
Every dollar raised is donated to the Cerebral Palsy Alliance and contributes to education, sport clinics, wheelchairs and other all-important needs.
Sydney Swans Community Engagement Manager David Reis said Steptember served a vital cause.
“It’s a great way to not only do a little bit of extra exercise during the month of September but also raise some money and awareness for all the amazing work the Cerebral Palsy Alliance does,” Reis said.
“With the Diversity Action Plan at the Swans, one of the key pillars is Disability Empowerment – and that ties in really well with what Cerebral Palsy Alliance does for people of all sorts of disabilities.
“Steptember raises a lot of money. It’s their biggest fundraiser of the year. The Swans are getting right around it.”
