Sydney Swans co-captain Luke Parker has received the full 10 votes for the AFL Coaches Association’s AFL Champion Player Award following Sydney’s Round One victory over GWS.
Parker, who claimed his fourth Brett Kirk Medal after an inspiring performance in Sydney derby XXIII produced a best-on-ground display with 21 disposals, five goals and five tackles in the 20-point victory.
Swans duo Ollie Florent and Isaac Heeney polled five votes each for their strong performances while Nick Blakey polled one vote.
Florent finished with three goals, 20 disposals and four tackles. Heeney also kicked three goals with 25 disposals and six tackles.

The AFL Coaches Association’s AFL Champion Player Award is an award voted by the 18 coaching panels on a 5,4,3,2,1 basis after each home and away game, acknowledging outstanding effort by an individual player in a season.
Parker sits at the top of the table after the opening round of the season with Carlton’s Patrick Cripps, Geelong’s Patrick Dangerfield, Port Adelaide’s Dan Houston, Melbourne’s Christian Petracca and Gold Coast’s Matt Rowell also polling 10 votes.
