Sydney Swans supporters will have the chance to farewell premiership defender Heath Grundy during Sunday afternoon’s match against West Coast at the SCG.

Grundy will complete a lap of honour during the half time break after announcing his retirement from AFL a fortnight ago.

Grundy played 256 games for the Swans including the first game of this season before being sidelined with a career ending back injury.

He became one of the most respected defenders in the competition playing on some of the best key forwards in the modern era including Lance Franklin in the Swans 2012 premiership success.

The seventh most capped Swan of all time, he played 213 of a possible 219 matches between 2009 and 2017 making him one of the most consistent players in the competition.
