Sydney Swans forward Isaac Heeney has earned full votes in the AFLCA AFL Champion Player of the Year votes for Round 2 after his blistering five-goal performance that inspired a 30-point victory over Geelong on Friday.

On a historic night that saw Lance Franklin take centre stage after kicking his 1000th career goal, it was Heeney who received 10 votes from the coaches after recording 21 disposals, five goals and five tackles.

He sits equal-fourth (15) on the competition leaderboard after polling five votes in Sydney Derby XXIII in Round 1, while Carlton's Patrick Cripps and Demons' Christian Petracca sit first with 20 votes respectively. 

Team-mates Callum Mills (8 votes), Tom McCartin (2), Paddy McCartin (2), Chad Warner (1) and Errol Gulden (1) were also awarded votes in Round 2.

Heeney's 15 votes following the opening fortnight of the competition sees him lead the Carey Bunton Medal. Mills' 8 votes sees him sit equal second.

The winner of the NSW Player of the Year award each year receives the Carey-Bunton Medal that honours the two greatest NSW players of all time, Wayne Carey and Hadyn Bunton based on the votes cast by the AFL coaches.
