Swans fans enjoy a game at the SCG.

The Sydney Swans are yet to make their first appearance in the AFLW but the red and white faithful are already strongly showing their support for the Swans women's team with the club leading the AFLW membership tally at the end of the sixth season of the competition.

The Swans, who will join the next season of the competition, lead the tally with 4388 members, followed by this year's grand finalists - Adelaide Crows (4,219) and St Kilda are third with 4,055 members. Become a Foundation Member here.

Kate Mahony, Sydney Swans Executive General Manager- AFLW said it was fantastic to continue to see the excitement from the Sydney Swans family around the incoming AFLW side.

"Sitting at the top of the AFLW membership tally shows the level of support our Sydney Swans members have for this team and reflects the appetite from our fans to us enter the competition," Mahony said.

"It’s such an exciting time for the club bringing the Swans AFLW team to life and we can’t wait to get to the first bounce.

"Thank you to all the Sydney Swans AFLW members for their support so far, it gives us great energy as we continue to build an exciting list and head towards our first season."

The support for elite women’s football has reached new heights, with AFLW club membership numbers almost doubling over the last year to surpass 48,000 for the first time.

A total of 48,712 football fans across the country became a member of their favourite AFLW club this season, breaking the previous record of 25,782 set in the 2021 NAB AFLW Season. The new figure equates to an 89 per cent increase year on year.
