Head of Physiotherapy and Medical Services Damian Raper provides an update on our injured playing listed, including star forwards Lance Franklin and Tom Papley.
General overview v West Coast Rd 5
We recorded a very good win against West Coast on Friday night and there were no serious injury concerns out of that game. The players now have a nine-day break before we play Hawthorn on Anzac Day, so it's good to have a slightly longer break which will allow the playing group to fully recover.
In our VFL match on Sunday,Joel Amartey and Matt Roberts sustained in the second quarters respectively, and they now enter the AFL''s 12-day concussion protocols.
Lance Franklin
Lance Franklin had surgery last week on a fracture to his index finger. It's healing well and see the surgeon this week and we will look to set a return date off the back of that.
Tom Papley
Tom Papley trained really strongly with the playing group today and will train again on Friday. We will re-assess a date for him to return to play following that session.
Angus Sheldrick
Angus Sheldrick sustained a knee injury in our Round 3 VFL game against Port Melbourne, so he is going to see a surgeon this afternoon and we will then assess the best course of management for him.
Robbie Fox
it's been three weeks since Robbie Fox sustained his hamstring injury and he is progressing well with his rehabilitation.
He is running well, has commenced some introductory drills and we expect him to return at roughly the six-week mark.
Lachlan McAndrew
It's been one week since Lachlan McAndrew suffered his hamstring strain. He commenced running on the weekend and there are no issues with his progress so far.
Colin O'Riordan
Colin O'Riordan has been given the all clear by his specialist to return to full contact and we expect him to train this week and be available for selection.
