Sydney Swans coach John Longmire has confirmed the team to host Brisbane Lions this Sunday, as the side returns to the SCG for the first of three consecutive home games.

Livewire forward Tom Papley and experienced duo Josh Kennedy and Sam Reid have all been included, while Logan McDonald and Paddy McCartin (head knocks) have been ruled out as they are monitored under the AFL concussion protocols and James Bell (omitted) also comes out of the side who beat the Hawks on Anzac Day.

Papley will play his first game of the 2022 Premiership season after he sustained a hamstring injury in the Swans pre-season fixture against the Giants in February which has sidelined him for the first six rounds.

“We are hoping to get him (Papley) into the swing of things. He has been out for a significant amount of time, he’s been training for the last three/four weeks and looking really good. We know the next step up is playing against a really good team so we expect him to come in and contribute," Longmire said.

Only percentage separates the Swans and Lions going into the Round 7, top four clash with the Lions also holding a 5-1 win/loss record and Longmire knows it will be a hotly contested footy on Sunday at the SCG.

"We play Brisbane who are the number one scoring team and are unbelievable in the contest," Longmire said.

"They are a really strong and mature side so we will really need to be right on our game from the first bounce."
