Coach John Longmire said the match committee had decided to stick with the same 22 who performed well against the Western Bulldogs two weeks ago, before the bye.
It is only the second time this season that the Swans have not made any changes to their side.
The players trained well in very warm conditions at the SCG today, and in a pleasing sign, the rehab group was the smallest it had been for many weeks.
Several players including Jed Lamb and Gary Rohan are expected to make their comeback from injury when the Swans reserves play Belconnen in Canberra this Saturday.
Longmire said Essendon would be a big challenge this week in what is another critical game for the Swans if they are to cement a finals berth.
The team to take on Essendon on Saturday night (7.20pm) at Etihad Stadium is:
B: R.Shaw, T.Richards, A.Johnson
HB: M.Mattner, H.Grundy, N.Smith
C: J.McVeigh, A.Goodes, C.Bird
