The Sydney Swans have teamed up with Volkswagen to get kids moving and teach them about healthy living.

The Volkswagen Swansfit program has been launched today at the Mowbray Primary School, with Kurt Tippett taking children through their paces.

The program will be rolled out in primary schools with 45-minute fitness sessions in which children will rotate through six skills stations.

The students will be given pedometers to record their total step count and then encouraged to share their fitness journey with family and friends.

Tippett said physical exercise is important for everyone, but especially for growing children.

“Research shows only a quarter of Australian kids are getting enough exercise each day,” Tippett said.

“But we also know that regular exercise is really important to build strong bones and muscles, as well as boost confidence and self-esteem.

“We’re hoping the Volkswagen Swansfit program will inspire kids to get active and lead healthier lives.”

Volkswagen General Manager Marketing Ben Wilks said the program is a great initiative.

“Volkswagen is proud to partner with the Sydney Swans in promoting the importance of being active through the Volkswagen Swansfit program,” Wilks said.

“Together we aim to inspire students to identify every day changes they can make in their own lives to enjoy a happier and healthier future.”
