The Sydney Swans will welcome a new recruit to the team after selecting Hugo Hall-Kahan with pick 11 in the 2022 NAB Mid-Season Rookie Draft.
The 188 centimetre forward has been recruited from the Sandringham Dragons where he has been influential inside forward 50 this season, averaging two goals, 15 touches and 4.5 marks per game. He was recently selected in the Young Guns, representing the best Under 23 players against Vic Metro and Vic Country.
National Recruiting Manager Simon Dalrymple lauded the perseverance of Hall-Kahan, who has overcome injury in recent years to put himself in the frame to be drafted.
"We’re very happy with picking up Hugo – we see that he has been really good this year as he’s been able to play some consistent footy," he said.
"He has had to overcome some injuries through his journey so this has been his first real attempt this year. He’s done really well, and it shows that he has some great talent.”
Dalrymple also praised Hall-Kahan’s versatility and his ability to take advantage of opportunities.
"He can take a nice mark and is dangerous around goal,” Dalrymple said.
"He’s very athletic and he has some speed and power. He’s mainly played as a forward, but also has some versatility to play higher up the ground, which he has displayed in the last few weeks for the Sandringham Dragons.”
