Home grown talent Jordan Foote will become the Sydney Swans' seventh debutant of 2016 when the Swans do battle with with Carlton on Saturday afternoon.

Foote, a product of the QBE Sydney Swans Academy, will get his first crack at senior football after the utility was named as one of four changes for the Round 18 encounter at the SCG.

Foote joins fellow academy recruit Isaac Heeney as well as Harry Cunningham and Xavier Richards as the four inclusions replacing Jarrad McVeigh (groin), Zak Jones (ankle), Ted Richards (omitted) and Ben McGlynn (omitted).

Learning of the news on Thursday, the 20-year-old couldn't hide his delight after his AFL dream was finally realised.

"I'm absolutely stoked," he said.

"The coaches pulled me into the match committee room and there was just silence for about 30 seconds.

"They all just looked at me with smiles on their faces. I just wanted someone to say something.

"Then they delivered the good news so I'm rapt."

Senior coach John Longmire has been impressed with his No. 45's development over the past two seasons.

"It's terrific to have Jordan in the team," Longmire said.

"He's been working so hard on his craft with the boys from the development group. He's hard, he's quick, he's versatile in that he can play a few different roles for us.

"He certainly deserves it and it's great to be able to give him the opportunity."

Recruited in the 2014 Rookie Draft, Foote started out across the half-back line for the NEAFL Swans but a permanent move to the midfield has seen the 183cm type reach a high level of consistency this season.

His selection was only a question of when, not if, after earning senior elevation last week.

He becomes the fourth member from the 2014 national and rookie drafts to debut following in the footsteps of Isaac Heeney, James Rose and Jack Hiscox.
