SYDNEY Swans forward Lewis Jetta says he will keep things simple when he makes his AFL debut against St Kilda at ANZ Stadium on Saturday night.

"I'm just going to run with the ball, that's it. Just play my game," he told reporters on Thursday afternoon after coach Paul Roos announced the 21-year-old would be picked.

He will be joined by fellow Swans debutants Daniel Bradshaw, Ben McGlynn, Josh Kennedy, Shane Mumford and Mark Seaby in the 22 to tackle the Saints.

Jetta, who was selected at No.14 in the 2009 NAB AFL Draft, has been one of the stars of the Swans' impressive pre-season with his exceptional pace and penetrating kicking.

He came to prominence with a blistering display against Carlton in the NAB Cup and backed that effort up with solid games against St Kilda, Essendon and North Melbourne.

Jetta said he had an inkling he was set to play on Saturday night, but was reluctant to get ahead of himself.

"I sort of had a feeling I was going to play, but I sort of had a feeling that I wasn't going to play. It didn't really matter if I didn't play [seniors]... I just wanted to play footy this weekend," he said.

The crowd at ANZ Stadium will be swelled by a large contingent of the Jetta family, who will fly from WA to witness Lewis' debut first-hand.

"The family's coming across - mum, dad, brother, couple of aunties and uncles. I think they booked out a plane full of Jettas," he said.

"I'm not too sure how many are coming over, but it will be good to see them."

Roos said Jetta had been subdued but quietly excited when informed of his selection.

"At the start of last year, probably by his own admission, he didn't think he was ever going to play AFL footy," Roos said.

"To be able to do that in 12 months - have a really good year, be a first-round draft pick and then to go and play in round one with a club that's been pretty successful, I think he'd be thrilled to get a game and the players will be thrilled to play with him."

Roos said the club's first selection in the 2009 draft, Gary Rohan, was unlucky not to join Jetta as a first-round debutant.

The No.6 draft pick was sent back home to Cobden in country Victoria last weekend to help recover from a taxing pre-season and his fatigue ultimately counted against him.

"Gary probably just got a little bit tired towards the end of our practice game series and that just cost him a little bit... but he's very, very close," Roos said.
