Sydney Swans midfielder Chad Warner has polled eight votes for the AFL Coaches Association’s AFL Champion Player Award following the side’s Round 16 defeat to Essendon.

Warner was energetic and powerful in the 9-point defeat at the MCG on Saturday afternoon, claiming 8 votes alongside Essendon’s Nicholas Hind.

Warner finished with a game high three goals, 25 disposals including 11 contested possessions, 7 clearances, 13 inside-50s and 10 scoring involvements.

It was the first time in Warner’s 29 game career where he has kicked three majors, and it included a beauty of a goal from a tight angle wowing the crowd with an outrageous finish.
