Sydney Swans coach John Longmire is set to learn from the best in the world as he heads on an exclusive Summit this month.
The premiership winning coach will head to the UK in the next week for an exclusive meeting with eight leading international coaches.
The P8 Summit brings coaches and general managers together behind closed doors to share ideas and philosophies and will be hosted by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.
“I take the opportunity to go and learn from the best in world sport,”
“There will be coaches and general managers from all over the world of sport so we will sit down and discuss things in a pretty private setting.
“I am really looking forward to learning off the best, I can’t wait to get over to London and learn from the best.”
Meantime Longmire has warned the introduction of a new interchange cap in 2016 will have an impact upon players across the competition that lack endurance running.
Under new rules implemented by the league the interchange limit has been reduced to 90 per match during the upcoming season.
Longmire said with fewer rotations player’s fitness had to be at a premium to be able to perform.
“The key position players you would imagine will be staying out there for a long time so they will want to get fit,” he said.
“One thing I do know is that you have to be fit and you have to be able to run.
“If you can’t run then you have to be very good at something else because that is the way the competition is going.”
The AFL also announced it would scrap the substitute rule for the 2016 season in what is expected to further impact the way the game is played.
“I am sure the no sub rule has been applauded by the playing group as it wasn’t a very popular rule among the players,” Longmire said.
