The Sydney Swans Football Club is mourning the sad loss of Michael Parsons, who passed away in hospital on April 24 2009.

Michael joined the North Adelaide Football Club in 1983, and played a ruck role throughout the early 80s. His outstanding effort in the 1987 premiership, where he kicked six goals, was rewarded with the Jack Oatey medal for the best player on the ground.

Michael was recruited by the Sydney Swans shortly after, and played in the AFL in 1988, 1989 and part of 1990 before returning to North Adelaide during the 1990 season. He retired at the end of 1992, having played 25 games for the Swans and 158 games for North Adelaide, and kicked 196 goals in his illustrious career.

The Sydney Swans offer our condolences to Michael's family at this difficult time.
