SYDNEY Swans coach John Longmire is considering recalling Mark Seaby to the senior side to assist Shane Mumford in the battle against Fremantle giant Aaron Sandilands this Saturday at the SCG.

A mixture of injury and the emergence of Mumford has restricted Seaby to just 13 games over his two years in Sydney.

But the former West Coast premiership player has shown strong form with the reserves in the past fortnight and is in contention to join Mumford for the battle against seven-footer Sandilands.

"It's been good to have Mark Seaby in really good form in our reserves for the last few weeks," Longmire said.

"Sandilands on the weekend [against Geelong] … his first quarter was really impressive, he's obviously a massive presence on the ground, and he was in pretty good touch after missing the whole pre-season.

"It is a big part of the game we need to make sure we're aware of and Seaby will certainly come into the calculations."

Longmire is hopeful both Rhyce Shaw (back) and Ryan O'Keefe (knee) can get through training this week and put their hands up for selection.

One player the Swans will need to keep a close eye on is Nathan Fyfe.

When these sides last met in round 17 last year at the SCG Fyfe was best on ground, picking up 31 possessions and three Brownlow Medal votes as Fremantle snared an 11-point win on the road.

And he appeared to have taken another step forward with another outstanding display against the Cats on Saturday.

"Fyfe got three Brownlow votes against us last year so he's an absolute quality player," Longmire said.

"We really respect what he's able to do and we weren't able to stop him last year.

"We need to stop him this year.

"Fyfe is one we need to do a lot of work into, but they've got a lot of really good players."

Freo showed they were up for the physical challenge against reigning premiers Geelong, coming out on top in a spiteful battle at Patersons Stadium.

Longmire said his side would need to take a similar attitude into its first home match of 2012.

"It's what you want to make sure you do. We want to approach our game here at our home ground in the same sort of manner," he said.

"We want to make sure we're up and about and ready to play as well.

"They were right on from the first quarter and we have to make sure we get off to a good start here at the SCG."
