Star midfielder Josh Kennedy is confident his young teammates won't be too overawed by the big stage when the Sydney Swans finally embark on the upcoming finals series.

Sydney has been in the privileged position of blooding a league-high eight debutants this year, all the while remaining ultra-competitive and in the finals race for the duration of 2016.

Only a rebuilding Brisbane has played the same number of first-gamers, a remarkable achievement by Sydney's development coaches in a side sitting second on the ladder with the best percentage in the competition.

Of those players Callum Mills, Aliir Aliir, George Hewett and Tom Papley have been able to cement their spots and are expected to play an integral role in the coming weeks.

That included finals which is, as Josh Kennedy pointed out, "a different kettle of fish".

But, speaking on Fox Footy's On The Coach, Kennedy said any doubts about his young teammates' ability to perform on the big stage has all but been dispelled by the manner in which that group has burst onto the scene this season.

The impact they've had has assured him that they'll be able to handle the heat of finals footy.

"It’s been a real highlight of the season so far, all the young kids being able to come in," Kennedy said.

"They haven't looked look like young kids, they’ve been able to step up and not only play their role but become integral parts of the team.

"It’s a real credit to the coaching staff and the development team. Those guys have been able to get them up to speed and demand such a high standard and, as we've seen, they’ve been able to slot straight in and do such a great job for us.

"From our point of view, we’ve just got to make sure we’re keeping them in form and knowing what’s required (of them) because come September it’s a different kettle of fish compared to the regular season.

"But I’m sure the way they’ve played this year, the way they’ve adapted to big games, I have no reservation in the way they'll go about it."
