This week, the Sydney Swans returned to the community as part of the AFL Community Camp initiative, visiting schools, local clubs and regional communities across Sydney and NSW including the Illawarra, Central Coast, Hunter and Tamworth regions.

The program returned this year, following the past two years impacted by COVID where the Swans conducted the camps virtually because of the pandemic.

The entire Swans squad returned to the community with activities in local schools, club visits, clinics, community events meeting fans and inspiring the next generation in person.

“We have been doing a bit of community camp work, getting around to a few schools and spreading around about the Swans and our membership drive, and teaching them a little bit about AFL along the way,” Harry Cunningham said of the day.

“It’s always important to be able to get out and give back to our community, especially face to face.

“I still remember when I was their age and we had some footy players come to my school, so it’s a pretty lasting memory for these kids so it’s great to be able to get here face to face and see them, spread the word about AFL and the Swans.

“They seem to be enjoying themselves so hopefully we get these kids to a few home and away games this year!”

Since the camps began in 2003, more than one million children have been reached during school and club visits across Australia during the AFL Community Camp program.
