Crouch played his first game for the Swans reserves on Sunday after suffering a hamstring strain against the Brisbane Lions in round two.
And Barry is some chance to join Crouch in the seconds this weekend after resuming his training with the Swans’ main group on Tuesday night.
The experienced defender underwent knee surgery in January and was placed on the club’s long-term injury list in mid-February.
Roos said it was likely that Crouch would be given a thorough workout under match conditions in the reserves before being considered for senior selection.
“It would be nice for him to play at least another one, maybe a couple there, because he’s had a lot of soft tissue injuries,” Roos said before training at the SCG on Tuesday.
“It’d be nice for him to get a little bit of consistency and get up to a full game of seconds, put his body under some real stress before we decide to play him.
“It’s not a fitness thing with him at the moment – his fitness is fine, it’s more the intensity,
“Occasionally over the last couple of years, when he’s tried to lift the intensity at senior level, his body hasn’t allowed him to do it. We’ve got to be careful we don’t put him in too soon.”
Roos said Barry, who is on a one-year contract, wasn’t far away from getting back on the field.
“He’ll play a little bit in the seconds as well, whether he plays this week in the seconds or, more likely, the week after – at least it gets his season kickstarted,” he said.
In other injury news, Luke Ablett (shoulder) will be assessed at training this week while Craig Bird will miss the Geelong game with his shoulder complaint.
However, Roos said Bird would likely be fit to play against West Coast at ANZ Stadium in round eight.
