Tom Mitchell expects to see more of Jarrad McVeigh, Dane Rampe and Callum Mills across the half back line throughout the 2016 season.
The Swans are in search of more speed from the defensive half of the ground following the retirement of premiership defender Rhyce Shaw.
“Hopefully we can get a few different guys going through there,” Mitchell told Crocmedia’s Sports Day program.
“Our co-captain Jarrad McVeigh is a really good ball user who can play through that position and Dane Rampe can also use his run.
“Hopefully those guys can fill the void because we have lost a few quality players in that area, so we are confident some of those guys can step up.”
Mills looked composed and calm during Saturday’s pre-season win over Port Adelaide, having a key influence upon the team’s performance by finishing the contest with 22 disposals.
Mitchell highlighted the 18-year-old as just one of the young Swans to look out for during the 2016 home and away season.
“He looked really comfortable out there Millsy and at training over summer we have seen that he is going to be a quality player for us,” Mitchell said.
“Alongside Jordan Dawson and Tyrone Leonardis, two of the other young players, it was really good to see them get a run and contribute.
“Dawson has a really nice left foot kick on him, and he can take a good mark as well, so he has some good attributes.”
Mitchell collected 32 disposals to be among the best players in the Swans’ first pre-season hit out. His teammate Dean Towers also shone, finishing with three goals.
“Dean has had a really strong pre-season. He is a really good runner, he is quick and he has a nice jump on him, so he has plenty of good attributes,” he said.
“He has probably been one of the standout performers during the pre-season so it was great to see him bring that and perform well in a game.”
The Swans have a weekend off ahead of their second NAB Challenge match against Greater Western Sydney at Drummoyne Oval on Friday 4 March.
