Lance Franklin breaks record

In Round 7 against GWS Lance Franklin earned a new record for his arsenal. After kicking three goals for the red and white on Saturday, he topped the list for kicking multiple goals in the most V/AFL games (257).

Second is Gordon Coventry on 256 followed by Leigh Matthews on 243 and Tony Lockett on 240.

Buddy has kicked 1054 goals throughout his career so far and sits fourth on the ladder for most career goals.

John Longmire Key Quotes

Senior coach John Longmire appeared in a Wednesday press conference (May 3) and discussed the massive challenge ahead. 

“They’ve got a system, but they also have belief," Longmire told journalists of this week's opponent, Collingwood.

"Their record of being behind at three-quarter time and coming over the top of teams stands out. There’s no question about that."

Injury Update

There have been small changes to the injury list in Round 8 with Robbie Fox and Tom Hickey expected to return to match play this week.

Joel Amartey has commenced introductory running and is progressing well from his hamstring injury. Similarly, Sam Reid is continuing his rehab program and has progressed to running this week.

In exciting news for members and fans, The Wiggles will perform at half-time in Round 9 at Redkite Day.

The Sydney Swans have been on Redkite’s team for 23 years, supporting children and families affected by childhood cancer through our annual match day.

The two organisations will once again come together to mark Redkite Day at the SCG on Saturday May 13 when the team faces Fremantle.
