Bio
James Alexander Young, best known as ‘Jimmy’ or ‘Diddley’ Young, was an early player of the South Melbourne Football Club and a member of five VFA premiership teams: 1881, ’85, ’88, ’89 and ’90. He played in runner-up teams in 1880 (his first season), ’83 and ’86 with just five players in history to appear in more finals. Nicknamed ‘Little Wonder’, Young finished his long South Melbourne career with 172 games and 24 goals to his name.
