The Sydney Swans VFL side have suffered a nail-biting three-point defeat to Frankston in Round 7 of their competition.
Looking for their first win of the season, the side saw young midfielder Dylan Stephens return to the state league level, and he starred with 28 disposals, nine tackles and 11 clearances on Saturday afternoon.
The Swans trailed for majority of the match, however remained within reach across the entire contest. A 8-point difference at half time stretched to beyond three goals at the third quarter break, before crucial majors to Jaiden Magor and Hugo Hall-Kahan saw the Swans rally and set up a grand stand finish.
Rushed behinds and some desperate defence on the goal line from the home side eventually put a stop to the fast-finishing Swans fightback, as the home side went on to claim a three point victory.
Will Gould was strong with 20 disposals and nine marks, while returning ruckman Tom Hickey finished with nine disposals and six tackles to go with 38 hitouts.
Rookie Hugo Hall-Kahan led the goalkicking with three majors from 13 disposals, with rookie ruckman Lachlan McAndrew finishing with 16 disposals, 33 hitouts and four clearances.
Lachlan Rankin had 17 touches and six tackles, Corey Warner had 18 disposals and kicked one goal, as did Jaiden Magor, to go along with his 11 touches.
The Swans VFL will host Williamstown Seagulls at Tramway Oval on Saturday, May 13 in Round 8. The game will be a curtain-raiser to the Swans Round 8 Redkite Day against Fremantle.
