The Sydney Swans will take on Fremantle this Saturday afternoon for a clash at the SCG. Before you head to the stadium make sure you're in the know with everything happening at the club with this week’s Red and White News, presented by Channel 7.

Tom Papley's 150th game

This weekend Tom Papley is slated to play his 150th game for the red and white. Swapping a career in plumbing for the AFL, Papley was plucked from the 2016 Rookie Draft and played 20 senior games for the Swans in the same year – including the Grand Final.

Papley has earned Leading Goalkicker for the club twice during his tenure, in 2019 (37) and 2020 (26). Most recently the gun forward kicked a career-high six goals in Round 5 of the 2023 season.

Redkite Day returns

Round 9 also marks the return of Redkite Day (formally known as Red Day) to the SCG, supporting children and families affected by childhood cancer.

We encourage Swans fans to show their support to these children and their families by donating to Redkite here.

Fans attending Redkite Day at the SCG will also have the opportunity to show their support and donate at the game. For a donation of $5 or more fans will be able to pick up a special Redkite crown to wear on the day!

Our Big Red Bay will be located in Bay 13 of the SCG. Adult tickets are $50, Juniors $23 or family for $100 and ticket includes a special giant cardboard hand. Get your tickets here.

Buddy's next milestone

Lance Franklin requires just three more goals to equal Doug Wade in fourth spot on the VFL/AFL leading goal kicking list. The star player currently sits on 1054 goals.

The Wiggles to perform at half-time

Just in case you missed it, The Wiggles are coming to the SCG! The much-loved group will perform their greatest hits this weekend to celebrate Redkite Day.

"We're so excited to be able to perform for families at Redkite Day,” Simon Pryce, the Red Wiggle and Sydney Swans ambassador, said.

“Redkite is an amazing organisation that provide support to families going through a difficult time, and we're so proud to partner with the Sydney Swans to help raise awareness for the wonderful work they do."
