One name most people have become accustomed to seeing at recent Bob Skilton Medal counts is Josh Kennedy’s.
Kennedy finished the 2015 season as arguably the competition’s best midfielder having strung together 11 consecutive 30+ disposal performances which was a record-breaking feat.
No matter the opposition or how congested the play was, Kennedy’s influence was on full display after leading league for overall disposals, clearances and contested possessions by season’s end.
Averaging a career-high 30 disposals (16 contested), six tackles and seven clearances during the season, the 27-year-old not only showcased his grunt and aggression around the contest but also proved himself as a viable option up forward.
Kennedy kicked 15 goals from 24 games giving him his best return in front of goal since his 2012 premiership season when he kicked 27 goals.
His strong finish to the season was highlighted throughout the club’s unsuccessful finals series. His third quarter against Fremantle in the first Qualifying Final was described by many commentators as one of the best individual quarters of football for a long time.
Expect to hear Josh Kennedy’s name mentioned a lot during Friday night’s Club Champion evening.
