Buddy notches next milestone

Lance Franklin is set to play his 351st game against the Brisbane Lions this Friday Night, passing Eddie BettS in outright third for the most VFL/AFL games played by an Indigenous person. Shaun Burgoyne sits on 407 games followed by Adam Goodes on 372.

Buddy will also move into outright 20th spot on the VFL/AFL games played list, passing Eddie Betts and Doug Hawkins.

John Longmire: “We’ve still got the talent there this week to be a really competitive unit.”

Senior coach John Longmire answered questions from the media on Wednesday (14 June) ahead of the Swans’ clash with Brisbane.

Longmire was confident in the team’s defensive unit in Dane Rampe, who recently returned to play, Aaron Francis and Lewis Melican.

"While [Brisbane] are tall, take great marks… we have the defenders to match that. If we can breakeven and get our noses in front with contested balls, it gets the ball in our front half.”

Longmire shared his praise for the Swans mid-season draftees Jack Buller and Harrison Arnold after their debut in the VFL last week. The red and white nabbed their first win after clutch goal in the dying minutes.

“It was a really good game of footy and went right down to the last two minutes,” Longmire told journalists in a Wednesday press conference.

“They were great. Just to get two mature age, bigger bodies in our VFL team made a big difference and they did a good job.”
