After three consecutive wins, Senior Coach John Longmire has been forced to make three changes ahead of this Saturday night's Round 21 Sydney Derby.

The Sydney Swans will head west to face cross-town rivals and face a big challenge with GWS on a seven game winning streak.

The Swans were dealt a triple injury blow in last week's win over the Bombers with co-captain Dane Rampe, Justin McInerney and Lance Franklin all sustaining calf injuries. Franklin announced his retirement on Monday and Rampe and McInerney will miss this weekend's fixture.

Replacing the trio and coming into the side for the Derby are Tom Hickey, Ryan Clarke and Aaron Francis.

Despite the Swans three game winning streak, Longmire admits the team will need to step up once again against an in-form GWS side.

"They will be red hot favourites, as they should be, and it will be a challenge for us," Longmire told Swans TV

"But we have to make sure we rise to that challenge and get after them."

It's the second time both sides have met in the 2022 season with Sydney suffering a heartbreaking one-point loss to the Giants in Round 7.

Longmire reiterated the importance of "consistency" for this week's match, adding it will come down to the contest.

"We have to make sure we play the footy that we want to play and match it with the Giants in the contest."

Sydney sit just outside the top eight after Round 20 and will be looking for another all-important four points to help in a log-jammed ladder.

The fixture is a GWS home game but the club are encouraging all members and fans to fill the stands with red and white in an important fixture for the club.
