The Sydney Swans have finished their pre-season with a fighting 5.8 (38) to 4.5. (29) victory over Carlton at the SCG on Saturday afternoon.

It was an impressive performance that saw a blistering first-half ultimately proving the difference, while their resilience in the dying stages helped withstand a Carlton comeback.

Cynthia Hamilton starred with two goals and provide a handful with and without the football - her tackle pressure immense as she inspired her team to back-to-back wins.

Ally Morphett dominated in the ruck and is earmarked for a big 2023 campaign after a strong pre-season.

Brenna Tarrant proved safe down back as she took some courageous marks and remained composed with the ball, while Ella Heads produced some huge tackles and one-on-one efforts.

Brooke Lochland and Rebecca Privitelli are looking ominous in the forward line - both kicking crucial goals that paved the way for the nine-point victory.

Coach Scott Gowans said he was pleased with the effort of his side from the first siren, and lauded the 'balanced' team performance

"That was the pleasing thing that came out of today - the effort and intensity we played the game at," Gowans said.

"That's all you can ask for - a good effort.

"Ball movement was the key thing we wanted to work on and we were able to do that. The pleasing thing is that we are bit fitter, so we can transition back now.

"You want to have an even spread of players - Bec Privitelli up forward, to Tanya Kennedy playing back, that even performance allows the likes of Chloe and Lucy to flow in and our of the game when they need to"
