Swans physiotherapist Matt Cameron believes the overall health of the playing group is ‘pretty good’ heading into the all-important closing weeks of the regular season.

Lewis Johnston was the only new injury out of last weekend’s fixtures, when he rolled his ankle upon returning to the Swans reserves after a syndesmosis(ankle ligament) injury. Cameron said the roll was only minor and Johnston should be cleared to play this week.

Dan Currie and Andrejs Everitt still remain on the sidelines, with Cameron hopeful both can make progress from their injuries over the next week.

“Dan Currie has got a stress fracture in his foot and it’s taking a little bit longer than we’d hoped for that to settle down,” he said.

“He’s not running at the moment, but we are hoping things would have improved enough by next week to start (running).

“Andrejs Everitt, who has been out with a deep calf injury, hurt it again last week running fast, so he’s had to slow down again and we’re hoping to have him ready to train next week.”

Cameron said he was happy ‘so far’ with how Mike Pyke, Jed Lamb and Gary Rohan have returned from their injuries over the last two weeks.

“Those guys are running their bodies back into the routine of playing and training, playing and training,” he said.
