Hannebery to have minor surgery
Dan Hannebery will have minor knee surgery but it isn’t expected to hamper him for long…
Young Swans star Dan Hannebery will undergo minor knee surgery this Friday but is expected to be back running in two weeks.
Hannebery felt a niggle in his knee before Christmas but it didn’t hamper his training and he was among the top three finishers in all the Swans’ endurance running trials.
However last Friday, a few days after the players returned from their Christmas break, Swans’ physiotherapist Matt Cameron said Hannebery again experienced some discomfort.
“Dan suffered a minor strain to his calf on Friday, and then his knee seemed a little more sore too, so we sent him for a scan on Tuesday,’’ Cameron said.
“The scan showed a small piece of loose cartilage in his left knee which needs to be removed. It’s only a minor surgical intervention.’’
Hannebery is expected to return to the running track before the end of the month and be back in full training in three to four weeks.
Given Hannebery is one of the fittest players at the Swans, he is expected to recover quickly and has not been ruled out of the Club’s first NAB Cup games, which are against Geelong and St Kilda at Etihad Stadium on February 24.
