The QBE Foundation’s charity partners and the Sydney Swans Foundation were winners at Saturday’s Sydney Swans game thanks to a $20,000 donation made as part the QBE Foundation’s Goals for Good initiative.

The QBE Foundation announced the initiative would see it donate $1,000 for every Swans goal scored during the game at the SCG and funds raised would be split between its charity partners and the Sydney Swans Foundation. 

The Swans scored a total of 14 goals on the night, winning the game against the Gold Coast Suns, but the QBE Foundation rounded up the donation increasing it to $20,000 after the game.

QBE Australia Pacific CEO Vivek Bhatia said the initiative was part of the QBE Foundation’s mission to support the communities it operates within and was made possible through its long-standing relationship with the Swans.

“We’ve proudly partnered with the Sydney Swans for more than three decades to support the communities and causes close to our hearts – and we’re proud to work with them once again on this year’s Goals for Good initiative.

“Goals for Good helps us bring to life the QBE Foundation’s mission to make a positive difference to the communities we operate within – helping people overcome disadvantage, strengthen their abilities and live more independently, successfully and productively.

“The funds raised on Saturday will go toward truly worthwhile causes including those of our seven charity partners, of which we feel very privileged to support.”

Mr Bhatia said QBE also used the match as an opportunity to give back to the individuals who work so hard for the QBE Foundation’s charity partners, and hosted volunteers and employees and their family members from organisations including Foodbank, Mission Australia, McGrath Foundation, Assistance Dogs, R U OK? and The Kids’ Cancer Project at the game.

“Our charity partners joined us at the stadium on Saturday to enjoy the game and were treated to a much-deserved afternoon of fun as a small token of our gratitude for the incredible contributions they make to the community.

Sydney Swans CEO Tom Harley said Goals for Good is an outstanding initiative.

“Goals for Good is a fantastic initiative and just one example of this shared commitment in action. On behalf of the club and the Sydney Swans Foundation I would like to thank QBE for their ongoing support and generosity.”

The funds raised for Goals for Good initiative will bring QBE’s philanthropic contributions to charity partners and causes to more than $800,000 for the year to date.
