The Sydney Swans would like to thank Bridie Kennedy for her contribution to the club, following her decision to delist herself due to personal reasons.
Kennedy made the move to the Sydney Swans from Carlton in 2022, and has been an important member of the team since the club’s inception in the AFLW.
The 24-year-old will make the move back home to Melbourne to be with family and continue her teaching studies.
Kennedy played 16 games in the red and white, and will continue her football back home in the VFLW.
Sydney Swans Executive General Manager – AFLW, Kate Mahony thanked Kennedy for her contribution to the club.
“Bridie has been a big part of our AFLW build from the beginning. She not only made the move to Sydney herself, but helped other teammates adjust to life out away from home as well.”
“Bridie has been a very popular member of the team. When she’s not working hard on the field, she’s working hard off it to support her teammates.
“This was an incredibly tough decision for Bridie to make, and a selfless one at that. Whilst she would like to remain a Swan, she knew she couldn’t give her full commitment to the club whilst juggling family and studies.”
“We understand her desire to move home and pursue her teaching career, and we wish her all the best for her upcoming marriage to her fiancé Nick in 2024.”
“We have no doubt she will secure a spot on the AFLW list in the near future."
