“It’s been a great start for footy in NSW.”

Senior coach John Longmire appeared in a press conference on Tuesday where he answered questions on Brodie Grundy, Issac Heeney and Essendon.

Longmire also spoke on the success of the first two rounds and praised the Opening Round initiative for generating momentum for footy in New South Wales.

“It’s been a great start for footy in NSW. I think it’s really important for the code up here to have Opening Round,” he told journalists.

“It was a great initiative from the AFL and generates real interest for the game. It’s great for the clubs but it’s also great for the code.”
