A monster 75m goal from Luke Parker in the dying stages has inspired the Sydney Swans to an enthralling 12.14 (86) to 12.8 (80) victory over North Melbourne in Round 7 of the VFL.
It was a nail-biting finish that saw the Swans hold onto a slender one-point advantage at 3/4 time, with the Kangaroos kicking three unanswered goals in the final term to almost record a fighting comeback victory.

Parker's monster effort capped another starring performance in just his third game of the season, recording 24 disposals, seven tackles and one goal, while Caiden Cleary (29 disposals, 10 marks), Braeden Campbell (27 disposals, nine marks, nine tackles), and Joel Hamling (four goals, 10 disposals) also impressed.
The thrilling six-point win was the Swans second consecutive victory and their third of the season, and follows their 10-point win over GWS and 60-all draw against the Gold Coast Suns in Round 4 and 6 respectively.
Coach Damian Truslove insists the close nature of previous games will be crucial for the development of a young Swans bridge as they work their way into an important part of the season.
"I think we have learned a lot out of these close games in terms of dealing with scenarios late in the game," Truslove said.
"I thought this week we were really composed after Parker's goal, we were really composed with the ball - we didn't panic.
"The more experience we have in those types of situations the better the players will handle them, and they are learning which is the main thing."
While the Swans were lethal in front of goal, which saw Hamling kick four goals and small forward Phillip Moi Moi kicked three of his own and have 14 disposals, Truslove lauded the team-first approach of his team.
Patrick Snell, who was drafted at pick 53 in the 2023 AFL Draft, has been amongst the most consistent in 2024 through his defensive work rate and sheet ability to compete.
"Indhi Kirk was our Captain this week and handled it really well, and Patrick Snell just keeps performing against a key forward from the opposition every week," Truslove said.
"He kept his opponent to just three possessions through competing really hard. Then you have VFL players like Max Geddes (20 disposals, five tackles) who played a really important role on the weekend is going well.
"Our young players are playing really strong team roles and it allows others to play their role really well too."
Kirk finished the match with 20 disposals and a goal, while VFL-listed players Nic Shipley (17 disposals, one goal), and Ben Edwards (24 disposals) were amongst our best.
The Swans will look to record their third consecutive victory against Frankston on Friday night, who currently sit eighth on the competition ladder and are coming off a strong win over GWS
