Hayward extends for five years

In case you missed it, Will Hayward has signed a long-term contract extension with the Sydney Swans, re-committing to the club for a further five years.

The fan favourite knocked back several offers from rival clubs to remain with the Swans until at least the end of 2029.

Speaking to the media in a press conference on Tuesday, senior coach John Longmire shared his excitement at the news.

“It's fantastic for the football club. We're thrilled to have a quality player like him commit for the next five years, but also not only as a player but importantly as a person - he's a high-quality person," Longmire said.

March to the Match is back

The Sydney Swans will March to the Match from Sydney Swans HQ to the SCG for Sunday afternoon's Round 13 match against Geelong.

For the first time since Round 2, Swans fans will again have the chance to cheer on the team as they make their way to the SCG ahead of the game.

The march will depart Sydney Swans HQ at approximately 2:25pm on Sunday, and head along Driver Avenue to the SCG.

Injury update

In this week's injury update it was revealed Callum Mills has progressed back to modified team training. He requires a few weeks of training before reentering the team.

Robbie Fox also began modified training this week, however he has been ruled out of playing in this week's game against Geelong.

Longmire: "It's a big game."

John Longmire isn't underestimating Geelong ahead of this Sunday when the two sides go head-to-head on the SCG. He praised the team's competitiveness and admitted it will be a challenge for his young playing group.

“They've introduced some younger players to their team that are playing key roles. They might get a couple of really senior quality players back this week, and that challenge is always going to be there," he said.

"They're a really well-coached, well-led footy club with quality players all over the park."
