The Sydney Swans acknowledge the passing of past player Henry Gunstone, who passed away aged 83.

Gunstone played 13 games in three seasons across 1960-1962 for South Melbourne, often as second rover to Bob Skilton.

His footy career at the top level was cut short when he returned to country Victoria to run the family farm when his father became gravely ill.

While a fine player, possessing a lovely left foot kick, Gunstone’s footy prowess was perhaps bettered by his talent with the cricket bat.

Known as ‘Bradman of the Bush’, he recorded an incredible 129 centuries representing Great Western Cricket Club in country Victoria, including over a dozen double centuries, multiple triple centuries and a remarkable knock of 400 in a final over two days.

The Club sends its condolences to all Henry’s family and friends.
