Can you guess which four modern greats are being inducted into the Swans Hall of Fame next week? And which significant figure in club history will be elevated to Swans Champion status?
INDUCTEE #1
“It's one of those things you don't plan for. To be told by the guys and get the email come through, it's pretty special. Not only to play at a great club for such a long time, but to be recognised as a Hall of Fame player is pretty special.
“The guys I'm sharing it with make it even more special. We all played through a pretty special era. We played a lot of finals and had some grand finals appearances. To see the players as part of a Hall of Fame , to be a part of that group of players is amazing.”
INDUCTEE #2
“It’s extremely humbling. I grew up coming to all the Swans games as a young boy and watching a lot of the amazing stories at the SCG, and some amazing moments over the history of our football club. Now to be honoured with the Hall of Fame for a place that I've kind of felt like I've grown up in and been here for a long time. It's extremely emotional but also, I'm extremely happy and privileged.”
INDUCTEE #3
“When you start your footy career, you just want to get in the team, you want to be a good teammate and you want to win premierships essentially. This is a nice side effect to some extent. You put in a lot of hard work and it's great to get the recognition - it's not what you play for - but a huge honour, nonetheless.”
“I’m really proud of the success we had together and how much we relied on each other. I never thought we were the most skilful team but the amount we relied on each other and worked together, as a team, we couldn't have given much more. I think that's probably the thing that makes me proudest.”
It’s not too late to join us at the Swans Hall of Fame on Thursday, August 8 at the W Sydney hotel. Click here to purchase.
