Swans to play Lions in Grand Final clash

The Sydney Swans are Grand Final bound following a victory over Port Adelaide in a Preliminary Final at the SCG. The Swans will face the Brisbane Lions after their victory over Geelong.

It's the first time the two sides have met in a Grand Final in the modern era. South Melbourne and Fitzroy clashed in the 1899 Grand Final, with the latter coming away with the win by one point.

Longmire: "We'll learn more about ourselves this week."

Senior coach John Longmire appeared in his weekly press conference on Tuesday. When asked about the learnings of of previous Grand Finals he said:

“We'll learn more about ourselves this week. You're just always learning. Whether you're a coach or a player, regardless of what game it is, you always go in with an open mind and understand that you're always going to learn a little bit about yourselves. You take a little bit out of that into the future. That's always been the case and that's always what we'll do.”
