Just over six weeks remain until the 2025 AFL season and off the back of a strong pre-season there is plenty to be excited for - including 13 potential milestone matches (subject to change). 

250 games 

On March 7 the Sydney Swans will run out on the SCG in Opening Round against Hawthorn. The event is also expected to play host to Jake Lloyd’s 250th career game. 

The 31-year-old midfielder made his debut in Round 5 of the 2014 season and quickly became a regular on the club’s playing roster. 

Should he play 25 games this season, Taylor Adams is set to reach 250 games in the second finals series match – should the Sydney Swans qualify.  

200 games 

Tom Papley could play his 200th match as soon as Round 16 against the Western Bulldogs after he was drafted as a rookie in 2016.  

The lightning forward made his debut in Round 1 of the 2016 season and played 20 matches, including every finals game.

150 games 

Defenders Tom McCartin and Nick Blakey will potentially notch over 150 games in Round 19 against North Melbourne and 23 against the Geelong Cats respectively. Both players hit their 50th career match in 2021.  

 

100 games  

Seven young players are expected to hit 100 games in 2025 including Errol Gulden and Chad Warner.  

Gulden - a QBE Sydney Swans Academy product – made his debut immediately after his draft year, playing Round 1 of the 2021 season. He is expected to play his 100th game in Round 7 against the Gold Coast Suns.

Warner made his debut in Round 6 of the 2020 season, a year interrupted by COVID-19. He could hit is 100th game in Round 16 against the Western Bulldogs.

  • Joel Hamling, James Jordon (Round 9 v Essendon) 
  • Lewis Melican (Round 17 v Fremantle) 
  • Hayden McLean (Round 21 v Essendon) 

50 games  

Rounding out milestones this season Matt Roberts is expected to reach 50 games in Round 21 against Essendon.  

After making his debut in Round 11 of the 2022 season Roberts played just seven games in his first two seasons. His breakout season arrived last year when he appeared in all but two matches. 

Potential debutants 

Possible AFL debutants include Jesse Dattoli, Riak Andrew, Ned Bowman, Riley Bice, William Edwards, Blake Leidler, Indhi Kirk, Tom Hanily, Patrick Snell and William Green.  

Possible club debutants are Ben Paton and Joel Hamling.
